Forms of Irrationality

News Article Review: Worldview and Activism

Summary

Michelle Malkin, contributor to Stopping Socialism, writes on the matter of the damaging effects of equity and the social justice movement preying on racism rhetoric. She highlights how the George Soros-funded District Attorneys are non-other than a woke theme park where equity is deemed compatible with the notion of justice. One story Malkin highlights is where 4 teenage black girls beat down a group of Asian students on a SEPTA train in Philadelphia. Some of the questions raised are whether policies of equity and social justice delay and hinder true justice in crimes such as these. Eventually charges of “ethnic intimidation” were filed (2021). Another question to ponder was whether there would have been a different outcome if the victims were white? In crime driven cities where BLM and social justice warriors make their protest, is it not time to call out the “two-tiered” justice that pervades these communities? “Look at the living hellhole of New York City, where homeless lunatics push random strangers off subway platforms. . .” (2021).

Analysis and Application

The idea of equity and social justice influencing the sentencing of criminals or incentivizing crime is dangerous for a civil and just society. It has become trendy to associate non race related incidents to phantom cases of racism. There is a continual sense of irrationality. Even if the facts show there is not an issue of racism, many activists want to play the part of victim or social justice warrior to continue to move along the social justice movement. Contradictions and relativity tend to be the only force of action that continues this idea of social change. Those who have put together organizations like Black Lives Matters and other social justice groups, have commanded the attention of policy makers and leaders within our local, state, and federal political systems. They have succeeded, but not because they have shown evidence that there are real problems within social matters; they have made headway due to the promises they make that they can create real change and a type of utopia within society. As Saul D. Alinsky states “They must believe in your capacity not just to provide the opportunity for action, power, change. . . but to give a very definite promise, almost an assurance of victory” (1989, p. 99). When organizations or activists look to power aided by empty promises, they have created a system that is doomed to fail over time. Their worldview or framework, by which they claim to have answers for a better world, is faulty and unstable. The entire premise becomes a lie. Truth is looked upon as “dogma” and deceit is prevalent; however, the truth still stands: “The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving” (English Standard Version, 2008).
